Report from SAG Town Hall Meeting
I visited the SAG Town Hall meeting in LA tonight. However, a well-placed SAG source told me the ballots will probably not go out until the end of the month, after Christmas—contrary to previously published speculation. Open your In box after Thanksgiving, and SAG-related emails come tumbling out (these in addition to a pre-Thanksgiving email as well). I happen to believe that SAG’s leadership has been out of touch with reality for quite some time, but it’s a relief to know that the official finding is now in. The stakes are high. How would it end?

Lately, we’ve been lost in a morass of letters from SAG board members, stars and activists … wandering through a thicket of politics … reading the offer from the AMPTP (studios)… observing meetings in LA , NY and LA again … taking note of other developments … enjoying press releases … trying to parse the issues … and wondering if SAG will strike.

SAG National Executive Director Firing – How it Went Down
The SAG board’s moderate majority fired National Executive Director Doug Allen today by using a document signed by board members and called a “written assent.” Much to my surprise, Allen chose not to fight and instead emailed the SAG staff acknowledging that he had been terminated and saying goodbye. of the SAG Constitution and Bylaws.

SAG Stalemate Update
Causing the stalemate is the issue of contract expiration date rather than new media; there’s talk of a trade-off between this issue and the (unrelated) SAG demand for force majeure payments per the previous SAG agreement.
