WHEN A DISTRIBUTOR DEFAULTS
We initiated arbitration, quickly won an award, confirmed it in court, and obtained a writ of execution directing the sheriff to seize the company’s film library. So the distributor not only had to pay the balance due with interest, but it forfeited its right to distribute the film. Will the film be entered into festivals?

Viacom v. YouTube: A disappointing decision, but how important?
First is actual knowledge of infringement (which can be obtained through receipt of a facially valid takedown notice pursuant to Section 512(c)(3)). I've now had a chance to re-read and digest last week's summary judgment ruling in Viacom v. YouTube. Both parties amassed, and cited, thousands of pieces of evidence. See Viacom Motion at 25 n.
