FCC Proposes 2010 Annual Regulatory Fees
For the most part, the fees proposed for 2010 for broadcast stations are not much different from the 2009 rates, with the fees for a few categories of television stations actually going down slightly. Starting in 2011, the FCC is proposing to discontinue sending out media notification letters. AM Radio Construction Permits $420. 1,300.

ABA Techshow 2010 – Roundup of Paperless Office Sessions
think last year (2009) was the only year since then I haven’t gone through the CLE sessions. am looking forward to Techshow 2011! spent Day 1 in the “Paperless Practice track, and most were really good sessions. learned a lot about how better to implement a system for using less paper in my practice. if they can help it.

Details of Webcasting Royalty Settlements for Noncommercial Webcasters Including Educational and Religious Internet Radio Operators
Noncommercial webcasters were provided with two royalty options under settlements reached with SoundExchange pursuant to the Webcaster Settlement Act of 2009 ("WSA"). 2011 $0.0017. There is no comparable deadline for the Educational deal, as it covers only the periods after January 1, 2011. 0002 (.02¢) 0.00057.

Webcasters Settlement Act Agreements Published in the Federal Register - Dates to Elect These Deals Set
As the fourth deal , with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting , does not even affect periods until 2011, affiliated stations need not file a notification with SoundExchange at this time, though CPB may have its own opt-in requirements for its member stations. The deals each have different opt in dates, so it does get confusing.

SAG Rejects Studio Offer; Back to Stalemate
SAG wants the contract to expire June 30, 2011, which would put in synch with AFTRA and just a couple months later than the Writers Guild. That synchronicity, with its threat of a possible joint strike, would give the unions negotiating leverage in 2011. Thus, the offer will not be sent out to the membership for a ratification vote.

John Carter of Mars' Stars, James Bond's Writers
We all knew that Daniel Craig was returning for the next James Bond installment set for 2011. SAG TV/Theatrical Contract Ratified Overwhelmingly, 78%-22%
June 10, 2009 and expires June 30, 2011. Tomorrow morning I will be contacting the elected leadership of the other talent unions with the hope of beginning a series of pre-negotiation summit meetings in preparation for 2011.
